On September 23, 21 local Rotary Clubs and 3 Interact Clubs joined forces with other local volunteers to participate in the California Coastal Clean-Up Day, a statewide clean-up effort sponsored by the California Coastal Commission. While the event was originally created in the 80s to help clean up California beaches, its expanded to help with trash removal from California’s bays and waterways, too – all which help keep garbage and pollutants out of our ocean.
Participating clubs included Belmont Redwood Shores, Global Action, Half Moon Bay, Marin Evening, Marin Sunrise, Menlo Park, Mission San Rafael, Novato, Novato Sunrise, Peninsula Starlight, Ross Valley, San Francisco, San Francisco Chinatown, San Francisco Sunset, San Francisco West, San Rafael, San Rafael Evening, San Rafael Harbor, Terra Linda, West Marin, Woodside/Portola Valley, Lowell High Interact, Washington High Interact, and Eastside College Preparatory School Interact.
Thanks to all who showed up and helped protect our environment – Rotary’s Seventh Area of Focus!
Here’s just a handful of photos captured that day…
