April is a special time in Rotary as we focus on Maternal and Child Health, one of our most impactful areas of service. The reality is sobering: millions of children under five still die each year from preventable causes, and far too many mothers lack access to basic care. But the good news is, this is where Rotary makes a real difference.

Across the world, Rotarians are stepping in with practical, life-saving solutions—training community health workers, supporting immunization programs, providing birth kits, and even bringing mobile clinics to remote areas. From equipping midwives in Haiti, to funding cancer screening programs in India, to strengthening maternal care systems in Africa, our projects are helping mothers and children not just survive but thrive.

As we serve this month, let’s also remember that April 22 is Earth Day. Healthy mothers and children depend on a healthy environment — clean water, nutritious food, and safe communities. I encourage every club to consider projects that support both people and our planet, whether it’s tree planting, clean water initiatives, or reducing waste in your community.

Together, we have the power to create healthier families and a healthier world. Every Piece Matters - each idea, each person’s effort and our contributions to the Rotary Foundation, it all matters.

Let’s make April count!
