Rotary District 5150 proudly recognizes Deirdri Gladwin of the Rotary Club of Millbrae as our Rotarian of the Month for June 2026.
A dedicated Rotarian since December 1999, Deirdri has spent more than 25 years exemplifying Rotary’s motto of Service Above Self. Throughout her Rotary journey, she has served in numerous leadership positions, including four terms as Club President, and continues to be a driving force behind many of her club’s most impactful initiatives.
This year, Deirdri chaired the club’s Rotary Foundation Committee, leading the club to achieve 100% Every Rotarian, Every Year (EREY) participation. Her personal commitment to The Rotary Foundation is equally impressive, as she recently advanced to Major Donor Level 2, reflecting her dedication to Rotary’s mission and global impact.
One of Deirdri’s greatest passions is recognizing and supporting those who serve their communities. She works tirelessly with local schools to celebrate student leaders, teachers, and volunteers whose actions reflect the values of Rotary. Her longstanding partnership with the education community has helped strengthen the connection between Rotary and local schools while inspiring the next generation of leaders.
This year, Deirdri partnered with fellow Rotarians and the Millbrae Elementary School District to address a significant educational need at Lomita Park School. Working in collaboration with the Millbrae Community Foundation, she helped lead a campaign to fund electronic Smart Boards for all 12 classrooms and the school library. Through the generosity of donors and community partners, the project successfully raised $52,000 in just three months, fully funding the request and creating lasting benefits for students and educators.
Beyond Rotary, Deirdri has devoted more than four decades to serving the Millbrae community through youth advocacy and education. Her leadership includes service on PTA and school committees, founding the Mills Drama Guild in 1998, and co-founding the Millbrae Education Foundation in 2007 to support classroom aides and music programs. In recognition of her many contributions, she was named Millbrae Woman of the Year in 2018.
Whether championing educational opportunities, recognizing community leaders, supporting The Rotary Foundation, or mentoring future generations, Deirdri’s impact can be felt throughout Millbrae and beyond.
