Congratulations to Paul Chin of the Rotary Club of San Francisco Chinatown for being selected as Rotary District 5150's Rotarian of the Month for October 2023! Paul grew up in Chinatown. He had the honor of becoming the first Asian Fire Marshal in the Chinatown Community. Paul has been a Rotarian since 2009. He served as Club President in 2015-2016 and again in 2020-2021.

Community Service: After the September 11 attacks, Paul led a team of San Francisco volunteers to the World Trade Center to aid with recovery. Most recently, he led a team of young Asian firefighters to Maui to support the relief efforts. They cooked and served over 2,000 meals a day to survivors and the volunteers. See video clip here.

During the COVID lockdown, Paul and Rotarians from the Chinatown Club distributed protective face masks and hand sanitizer in the community and See’s Candy to first responders. He collaborated with Rotarians from the Rotary Club of San Francisco to purchase pocket alarms for Asian senior citizens for protection against violence and Asian Hate. Paul is also very active in the community with many charitable organizations.

During the Rotary Club of San Francisco Chinatown's Meal Packaging for Veterans in September, Paul rallied his team of fellow firefighters to volunteer. They lifted the 50-lb. bags of oatmeal, rice, and vitamins needed to fill the food packets.

Paul is currently the Chairman of his Club's Autumn Moon fundraiser and has introduced a new idea for this event.

International Service: Paul traveled to Guatemala in 2014 for the Chinatown Club's first international Bottle School project and again for the H2OpenDoors/eye glass distribution in 2020. He has also attended many Rotary International conventions.

Paul truly exemplifies the Rotary motto of Service Above Self in everything he does. We at the Rotary Club of San Francisco Chinatown are honored to have Paul Chin as our valued member. Paul is most deserving to be recognized as District 5150’s Rotarian of the Month for October 2023!
