SAN MATEO CLUBS SELECT BRUCE WRIGHT – A MEMBER OF THE ROTARY CLUB OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO AS DISTRICT 5150’S ROTARIAN OF THE MONTH FOR SEPTEMBER 2017!

A member of the Rotary Club of South San Francisco (SSF) for 23 years, Bruce Wright has been active in virtually all Club activities. A past Club President and long-time serving Club Treasurer, Bruce currently serves on the Club’s Board as well as the SSF Rotary Plaza Foundation.

Bruce was the driving force on a multi-million-dollar remodel of 180 senior housing units which the SSF Club has owned and operated for 40 years. He not only managed the funds for the remodel but also facilitated meetings between the Board and contractors to address upgrading all units, and adding meeting space. More recently, Bruce spearheaded the Club’s negotiations with the City of SSF to build 87 new senior housing units in SSF’s downtown area. Ground was broken in July 2017 with an anticipated completion date in Fall 2018.

Notably, Bruce’s “Rotary service” is not only “local”. He is the coordinator of the Kishiwada Student Exchange Program, a 20-year-old program and a joint collaboration between the SSF Club and the City of Kishiwada, Japan with the support of the Rotary Club of Kishiwada. This program exchanges high school students from Japan and SSF for a week of educational and cultural activities. Bruce’s contribution to this program is priceless as he handles all logistics – housing, training, tours, fellowship, and youth – to ensure a great experience by all.

There is no doubt that Bruce Wright is a “person of action” and a true inspiration to all Rotarians! The Presidents of the Rotary Clubs of San Mateo County are very pleased to select him for this district-wide recognition as Rotarian of the Month!
