A high-impact Global Grant sponsored by San Mateo Rotary Club that will empower women with small businesses in Guatemala to pull themselves and their families out of poverty, while supporting next gen leaders from Bay Area high schools to travel to Guatemala to study solutions to global poverty. Global Grant#2095476

Program Objectives

With a Global Grant of $120,000, we will accomplish the following:
225 women with small businesses will be trained and mentored in Namaste’s program

40 women will receive tablets and training on a business plan app to help them grow and monitor their business

Hillsdale Effect students will raise $10,000 toward the Global Grant and at least 10 students will have the opportunity to travel to Guatemala to audit the program

NamasteDirect is the implementing organization for this grant, with over a decade of experience equipping women in Guatemala with mentorship, financial education and microloans to grow their small businesses and exponentially increase their profits.

When women in Namaste’s program earn more money, they invest in their families’ health, education and they strengthen their communities.

San Mateo Rotary Club has been a long-time supporter of the Hillsdale Effect, an Interact Club, comprised of a group of Bay Area high school students, passionate about understanding and breaking cycles of global poverty.

Since 2008, Hillsdale Effect has raised over $80,000 to support women in Namaste’s program and has sent 94 students to Guatemala to observe the program firsthand.
