Congratulations to Jennifer Goldfinger of the Rotary Club of Ignacio for being selected as Rotary District 5150's Rotarian of the Month for August 2024!

In Rotary, Jennifer is known as the woman with the Midas touch when it comes to volunteerism, reminiscent of the 1964 movie "Goldfinger" that shares her name. This Fourth of July, she served for the second year as Committee Chair and Board President for the successful Novato Fourth of July Parade, which featured approximately 80 entries. Jennifer's leadership in this event follows her previous roles as Vice Chair, Committee Member, and Board Secretary since 2006.

She is actively involved in numerous Club activities, such as initiating the monthly food collection for the North Marin Community Services Food Pantry and co-chairing the annual Burgers, Brews, and Comedy event for the third year, which raises over $30,000 annually for the Club Foundation.

Jennifer's community involvement extends beyond Rotary. She is a member of the Novato City Birthday Party Committee, having previously served as Committee Co-Chair and Board Secretary since 2005. Additionally, she volunteers with the Novato Chamber of Commerce, serves as a docent at the Novato Historical Guild, and has been a weekly store volunteer at the Friends of the Marin County Library Book Store since 2011. Recently, Jennifer was appointed to the Board of the North Marin Community Services, a social service agency providing essential services to over 10,000 people in northern Marin County annually.

Jennifer's dedication to service is deeply rooted in her family history. As she shares, "My parents and all my other family members were Jewish refugees in London who fled from Nazi Germany during WWII. They were working poor and could barely speak English. However, they believed in their community and supported each other regardless of barely having enough money to provide food and shelter for their family. From this foundation, my future career choices involved working for the community and volunteering to help others. Thus, my career has been composed of both social service and city government; and my volunteerism has evolved around the bulleted items above. I have volunteered since I was a teenager and make it part of my active lifestyle in retirement."

The Rotary Club of Ignacio and Rotary District 5150 are honored to have Jennifer Goldfinger as a valued member and grateful for her many contributions. Jennifer is a true leader who is always ready to lend a helping hand in any way she can and is most deserving to be recognized as District 5150’s Rotarian of the Month for August 2024!
